AGARTALA, May 1 (TIWN): A little mistake in ADC poll would befall an adverse impact on peace and harmony in the state, so do not cast your precious vote to rioters who aim at destroying peace, alleged Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.

Addressing an election rally on Friday at Barrokathal higher secondary school ground in Urabari ADC village under Mohanpur, Manik Sarkar said the IPFT as their main contender. “The role of opposition parties in the poll should be made clear before the people”, he added.

“Even the bizarre incidents failed to stop the movements. CPI (M) came to power with a huge margin of votes in 1977 and in 1998, decision was adopted to form district councils as per 7th schedule”, said Sarkar.

“Congress from the very beginning were antipathetic towards the tribal and were repugnant towards unity and peace. They from the tenure of Sukhamoy Sarkar started opposing the district councils. Sukhamoy Sarkar wanted to stop the movements demanding recognition to Kok Borok language, ST reservation in education and 4-point charter of demands by Ganamukti Parisad at gun point. During such activities, Dhananjoy Tripura was gunned down at Jolaibari”, he added.

Sarkar said that Congress, INPT, IPFT and BJP are not good for the people of state. They have no right to seek vote because they were against ADC in our state. ADC was formed here because of contribution of CPI-M. Congress always wanted to create a condition of violence in the state.

He added, “The IPFT is acting as political mask of the banned outfit- NLFT”.  The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) came into being in the state under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution in 1987 to protect and safeguard the tribals who form one-third of the state's population.
