AGARTALA, May 1 (TIWN): The eight FIR named accused persons into massive multi-crore MGNREGA scam under Bishalgarh RD Block are likely to get bail if police fails to submit the chargesheet to court within six months.According to inside police sources, the police will not be able to submit the charge sheet within the time period because the scam is huge and some CPI-M leaders and Ministers are putting pressure on police not to submit the chargesheet within time. The eight persons are Chayan Nandi (Technical Assistant), Kishore Banik (Technical Assistant), Nibash Pal (Jr. Mechanical Engineer), Partha Sarkar (Jr. Mechanical Engineer), Goutam Pal (Junior Technician), Shayamal Debbarma (GRS), Sarada Debbarma (GRS) and Subir Ukil (Work Assistant). It is to mentioned here that all the eight accused persons were produced before the court on April 24. The Additional District and Sessions Court sent all the eight accused persons in Judicial Custody (JC) till May 7. On the other hand two accused persons Mita Malakar (Jr. Engineer) and Debprasad Nandi (Gram Rojgar Sevak) are still at large.

On the other hand, the prime accused of multi-crore Bishalghar scam Bimal Chakraborty, who had surrendered before the court on October 23, last year, was granted bail by the Additional District and Sessions Court on Monday last. A section of legal experts said that the Public Prosecutor, who moved the case in favour of the government, could not present the necessary evidences before the court perfectly and the Investigation Officer (IO) of this case allegedly failed to submit the complete charge-sheet even after the statutory period of 180 days since his arrest.

As a result, Bimal Chakraborty’s bail plea was accepted by the court on April 23, they said adding that if police and Public Prosecutor carry on their tasks in same spirit then the other accused persons are likely to get bail soon. Among the total, accused Tushar Kanti Sen (Panchayat Secretary), who was booked for his alleged involvement in this case, was granted bail by the High Court of Tripura in the recent past.

It is to be mentioned here that after the Rs. 50 crore MGNREGA multi-crore scam of Bishalgarh RD Block  came to light all the 94 corrupt officials of  Bishalgarh RD Block are not coming to office due to which all the remaining work of Bishalgarh RD Block came to an halt. And the local people of the Bishalgarh RD Block are suffering from various problems due to the said reason.
