AGARTALA, April 30 (TIWN): After exposure of serious corruption charges and misuse of official power to get rid of punishment, Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) in Tripura Prabir Bhattacharjee in connivance with a top official of BSNL Tripura SSA and Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has now attempted to manipulate the entire land record where he built a double storied house on the land muted in the name of Department of Telecom.Bhattacharjee and his corrupt friend CCF Debasish Chakraborty and Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Sanatan Talukdar have reportedly engaged a former journalist Mihir Pal (name changed), turned into a consultant to manage the media to stop writing the issue. According to report, the former journalist has been assigned to kill the vigilance enquiry against four officers including these three and another CCF C M Debbarma. The consultant has good access to Chief Minister Manik Sarkar for different reasons and reportedly CPI-M has put him into BJP recently for getting inside information of the growing threat of leftists. The corrupt forest officers have taken the opportunity to engage him influencing the media, police, vigilance enquiry, top bureaucrats and finally the Chief Minister Sarkar to close their chapter. Finally, he has reportedly paid a hefty amount to a top official of BSNL for not lodging case against him, as directed by Ministry of Telecommunication two month ago to General Manager BSNL Tripura. The corrupt officers have also been trying hard to get closure to newly appointed Chief Secretary Y P Singh to put an end to the investigation on the charges.

The allegation includes illegal building of house on BSNL land in Agartala, disproportionate asset from known sources of income, appointing forest guards in exchange of money by manipulating the process, taking money from field level officers allocated for raising of forest, misappropriation of public fund, illegal logging permit and womanizing activities openly in the office chamber.

Despite directions and advice from the District administration and Collector,  BSNL did not take any action to vacate the land illegally occupied by Bhattacharjee and three other retired employees of BSNL for past many years.

Bhattacharjee is known most canning among all other accused and also is the backbone of all nefarious activities in the department. Allegedly, he has tried at several times to prevent the vigilance enquiry instituted against them about six months ago.

To  save from departmental prosecution, Bhattacharjee through a leader of CPI-M party paid money to a official of AMC to manipulate the documents of his illegal building constructed within 200 yards of Mayor’s office on BSNL land without any approved plan.

PCCF Talukdar and CCF Bhattacharjee with the advice of CCF Chakraborty influencing the Chief Minister’s office through their batch meet in MBB College during 70’s who is also appeared to be an extended arm of Chief Minister Sarkar. His eyes and ears are most reliable to Sarkar than anyone else in the Secretariat.

However, the sources confirmed that Chief Minister has directed the authority to take immediate action against them based on the vigilance findings and wrote to DoPT for suspending them from the service for corruption.

Interestingly, the money speaks strongly for Bhattacharjee, as neither BSNL nor AMC and District administration take any action yet against him. With the influence of CPI-M party Chief Minster Sarkar is also bit reluctant to take action against them.
