AGARTALA, April 26 (TIWN): With the First Class Magistrate Court had sent CPI-M heavy weight leader Jiten Das for another 3 days police remand, the prime accused of Kalpana Das murder case, a highly placed source from police on Saturday indicated that Jiten has given irrelevant statements to the police so far during the interrogation. The source added, “Jiten Das has been confusing the policemen by making inappropriate statements.” He said that many more interrogations need to be conducted for Jiten as he has very sharp criminal brain in committing the whole murder. Besides, the other three accused persons of the case also need to undergo heavy interrogation, said the source on Saturday on a telephonic conversation with TIWN. Officers involved in the investigation into the high profile case are tight lipped over the progress of the probe. Even though CPI-M expelled Jiten Das from party as an eyewash but on the background CPI-M doing every effort to save Jiten Das from prosecution. CPI-M already weakened the SIT (Special Investigation Team) due to which Police is unable to recover murder weapon till date.

Though, Police yet to discover some major clues of the sensational murder.The source also confirmed that the women police is also investigating various people including three widows, who are found having good relation with the suspended CPI-M leader Jiten Das, the alleged mastermind of the case.

Despite round the clock interrogation, the investigators have so far failed to get evidences against the hardcore accused Jiten Das. “It seems he is very sharp brained and hard nut. Therefore it would take another time to get the major inputs and the clues from him to crack the case,” said source.

Asked about another suspect of the case Shibu Das, the source on Saturday said that police also got no major inputs from her so far. He said, “If Shibu shares her statement good with the police then arrest of Shibu would not require.”

However it is worthy to be mention here that on Friday after all the 4 accused persons were produced before the court, suspended CPI-M leader Jiten das was sent to another 3 days police remand while the others were sent to jail custody till May 8. The court also allowed police to interrogate the three in the jail.

Police had sought 8 days police remand for Jiten Das, and has submitted the case diary with the court on Friday.
