Violation of model code of conduct by District Education officer, South Tripura
TIWN

Belonia, April 24 (TIWN): District Education officer has been noticed to distribute bicycles to the BPL students before the ADC election. Cong(i) (Sabroom unit) has given a complaint to the Returning Officer against the School Inspector, Sabroom Sanjit Malakar on April 22, at 11 AM while executing the Cycle Distribution order, to the Schools under Sabroom Subdivision. Thus Sabroom SDM, Returning Officer, Subash Saha canceled District Education Officer’s “cycle distribution order”.

According to the sources, earlier the order was made by Kalimohan Jamatia DEO(District Education Officer) South Tripura. In the order he instructed to distribute cycles of Class nine on 24th April & 25th April under Sabroom & Santirbazar Sub division in ADC Election process.  In the order 953 cycles would be distributed under Sabroom Sub Division Schools. Same order is also given in Santirbazar Sub Division.

It is to be mentioned here that the scheme of distributing free cycle started in all over India in 2006-07 aiming to facilitate transport for rural and hilly region students. The target group was girl students enrolled to class 8th in Govt. and Govt. aided schools of BPL family to ensure their studies and to reduce transport time. But what the officers are doing before the ADC election is a kind of “disobedience to the rules”. As a result Congress has claimed that the officers are not taking the election seriously and violating the model code of conduct.
