AGARTALA, April 23 (TIWN): In the “Golden Era” of Manik Sarkar the REGA workers under Chawmanu block did not stop their agitations and the situation still has not become normal till date.According to sources, Block Development Officer (BDO) of Chawmanu Shanti Ranjan Chakma was physically assaulted by the REGA workers due to their pending wages.After the incident Dhalai district police super with huge contingent of police force and Dhalai district DM Dr. Milind Ramteke rushed to the spot and took the situation under control.Hundreds of agitated REGA workers were given assurances near the block office on April 10 and from April 13 onwards their dues will be cleared through the bank. This assurance was given by the DM but on the other these REGA workers have been waiting to receive their dues for many times in the bank.On the other hand same situation is going on at Manu block and for which a critical time arrived at the block on April 20.

And to avert the situation from Moinama to Chailengta hundreds of police forces were deployed. Till date many REGA workers did not receive their wages. As a result several CPI-M leaders are facing obstacles at present. It is to be mentioned here that Block Development Officer (BDO) of Chawmanu Shanti Ranjan Chakma handed over his work to Manu Block BDO infront of DM on April 20.    

It is also to be mentioned here that Tripura topped in the matter of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act implementation for the sixth time in a row by providing 88 person-days’ rural jobs per household under the job guarantee scheme during the 2014-15 fiscal, claimed Rural Development Minister Naresh Jamatia.

Now the question arises that if Tripura topped in the matter of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act implementation for the sixth time in a row then why the BDOs and other CPI-M led state government leaders are facing obstacles regarding REGA payment?
