KHOWAI / TELIAMURA, April 23 (TIWN): Devastating storm and rain causes huge damage in Khowai. The most affected areas due to the storm were baromile, singichara etc. 60-65 electric poles were uprooted and 30-40 trees feel down at the road. Power supply had been cut off. However, Electric Department told that efforts were being made for regularizing the power supply.

Communication system is normal. Buses from distant places can pass freely through the roads. Talking to TIWN, DGM of Electricity Department told that, efforts were being laid to regularize power service within evening in the city area. Life was thrown out of gear at several low lying areas, following the heavy monsoonal rains on Monday night. Overnight seasonal rains accompanied by a thunder storm also disrupted power supply and surface transport movement besides especially in the rural regions.

According to the officials of meteorological department said that the seasonal Nor'wester (cyclonic rainstorm) would continue till this monsoon. The recurring Nor'wester is now active in entire eastern and northeast India and a few other places in the country. Communication was disrupted till today morning due to landslide in several parts in the North district and other parts.
