Police winding up Kalpana Das murder case : Tripura CPI-M heads in a hurry to close case

AGARTALA, April 21 (TIWN): Amidst investigation into the high profile Kalpana Das murder case, the police is about to wind up the case in a record time.According to West SP Bijoy Nag, the investigation team is clear about the method in which the murder was accomplished after receiving the forensic report and the post mortem report. “Much of the confusion has been removed about the methodology of the murder after receiving the post mortem and the forensic report”, claims the SP.It may be mentioned here that the police is investigating the high profile murder case of now expelled heavyweight CPI(M) leader Jiten Das’s wife Kalpana Das whose body was recovered on 16th of this month in the leaders’ house in a pool of blood. With the raising public sentiment, the state government ordered the setting up of a special investigation team (SIT) led by DIG Uttam Mazumder to investigate the case.The police is going ahead in the investigation keeping in mind all possible angles including the involvement of professional killers in the crime and diluting the direct role of CPI-M leader Jiten Das in murdering wife Kalpana Das. Police under the direction of Tripura's Home Minister Manik Sarkar in a hurry to close the case as Manik's close Jiten Das's issue hampering image of Chief Minister and CPI-M party.

As a fallout of the TripuraInfoway.com story on the case with heading “Murder accused Jiten’s shift to dacoity version raises question ………….. aired on Monday the 20th April, the police stormed into action immediately seizing the mobile phones of all the relatives of Jiten Das residing in the joint house at Ranirbazar area.

The police had earlier arrested suspended CPI(M) leader Jiten Das, his two brothers and one nephew in connection with the murder case and the accused were sent to six days’ police custody for solving the case. The six days’ police custody is expiring on April 23 when they will be pro duced in the court  for further decision of the judge. The police is expected to demand police custody of the accused for some more days.
