AGARTALA, April 21 (TIWN): With Tripura reeling under severe petrol crisis, a total of 28 oil tankers arrived here at the state on Tuesday to free the consumers from the crisis. Besides, some more tankers were stranded out of the state due to bad condition of the road in North Tripura.

Talking to TIWN on Tuesday Deputy Director of Food Shekhar Lal Das confirmed, “ A total of 28 tankers has already arrived here at the state and started supplying petrol to all the petrol pumps.”

Adding to that he said, “By today all the petrol pumps across the state would be filled by petrol to meet the crisis of the petrol.” He also said, “Till Tuesdaymorning there were a cry for petrol in the petrol pumps, but from today after noon onwards there would be no more crisis.”

Besides, Das confirmed, “Within the next couple of days some more tankers would arrive here.”

Asked about the reason of the petrol crisis Das said, “Due to the bad condition of the road in North Tripura the tankers were stranded in a long queue and were unable to make an entrance into the capital city and other parts.”

Das also mentioned that the crisis also comes due to a panic among the consumers. "The owners fear that they may face loss if they have stock, so they do not keep fuel in their stock. If the price slashes by Rs. two per litre of petrol, the owners have to bear loss. So, they do not stock the fuel and we are at the suffering end," he added.

However it is worthy to be mentioned here that most of the fuel filling stations in the capital city and other parts of the state hanged play cards of 'no petrol' and long queues were seen outside a lone petrol pump since the last couple of days.

People complained that they had to wait for long hours to get their turn to fill petrol and could not do many important works. A section of people also complaint that the number of filling station are not increasing in the state in proportionate to the increasing vehicle.
