AGARTALA, April 21 (TIWN): With general election to Tripura Tribal Areas and Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) in Tripura drawing closer, the ruling Left Front and opposition Congress are accusing each other of using militants to sway votes.Opposition MLA Ratan Lal Nath on Monday has accused the CPI-M of indulging in a “Demise and Rule “In Tripura by aligning with an outfit which had the backing of an underground extremist organization during the year 1980.Nath on Monday alleged, “It is the ruling CPI-M which initiated violent attacks on non-tribals in1980 and tried to create unrest among the tribals and the non tribals here at the state.â€â€œIt is the CPI-M that has given birth to the extremist to bring the entire state under unrest situation, and later after the congress tried to bring peace all macros the state under the banner of former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi, the CPI-M has given birth to ATTF (All Tripura Tiger Force) to strengthen its insurgency,†alleged Nath on Monday.Later linked to it Nath claimed, “it is the ruling CPI-M responsible for it because the deprivation of the tribal people in the ADC areas has led a section of people to raise such demands.â€
He also said that congress though do not sup[port the demand but yet the deprivation of the tribal people has led them to demand separate state.
However it is to be mentioned here that earlier the ruling CPI-M had raised several allegation against the opposition congress for aligning with the banned with an outfit which had the backing of an underground extremist organization during the year 1980.
Later on the sideline of another issue Nath pointed out that during the year 1992, February 26 the CPI-M had promised the tribal people of the ADC areas to set up an inner line permit in their manifesto but yet today no inner line permit has been set up at the ADC area.
Nath on Monday making a serious allegation against the CPI-M appealed the Chief Election Officer (CEO) to conduct a free and fare election to TTAADC. General election to TTAADC is scheduled to be held on May 3.
