Agartala, April 20 (TIWN): TIWN reader Subrata Dey of Bisalgarh sent an email to Tripura medias regarding harrowing experience his family had with ILS healthcare services.

ILS hospital is leading as a part of Tripura’s Health service’s terrible condition: A letter  by Subrata Dey, Bisalgarh

I felt so proud and happy when I learned about the opening of two Medical colleges, one multi specialist hospital and one Paramedical college in our small hilly and geographically backward state Tripura. Earlier, G.B. hospital was known as the only ‘referral hospital’. But when I personally experienced the actual situation of Tripura’s health service centers I understood that the health service’s sudden revolution was nothing but an illusion.

Before few days my father (age 68) suddenly became ill due to old-age-related-disease and I took him to Hapania TMC hospital and duly he had been admitted there. After one day, when he was almost recovered, due to the carelessness of the workers of TMC hospital he went to the edge of death. Most probably due to the ignorance of one of the nurses the pipe, went to the wind pipe instead of mouth.  And accordingly his health condition was getting worse.  And we had been already informed that “the condition of the patient has fall down, immediately he needs to take to the ICO.”  But after keeping him in ICO for 1 day long, the doctor declared that there was no sign of improvement in patient’s health; hence he needs to go for dialysis.

Immediately he had been referred to the ILS as the dialysis machine was unavailable there, as per the doctor said. The doctor’s words made me surprised. Question arises, how did the students, who are used to read in this college, do their practical class without this machine? Then during my conversation with other patients I could also uncover the surprising history of this hospital. They said, sometimes it needs 15 to 20 days time to get the XRE report, if the condition of the patient remains very serious also.

However many people said that once anybody go for the ILS hospital its cost becomes  unbearable for a middle class family which results out in selling his all property even. Moreover the TMC authority already announced there that my father would be referred after proper ventilation; otherwise he may not be saved. When I contact GB hospital they let me know that we have to stay in the waiting list for the booking of ICO, moreover enough oxygen can’t be provided by the authorities also. Mentionable, it is our well known Governmental Medical College.

So there was no way I could found, except admitting my father to ILS hospital. But whether he was admitted before 1 day at around 2 pm, we were not allowed to meet him after 5 pm on the next day. Being incapable, I took the help of few relatives who are close this profession and surprisingly after getting called by them ILS workers stated to give special notice on us. Al last we understood that they supposed us as rich people and schemed to acquire more money from us.

But my father’s health had no improvement, whether they said he had been taken for dialysis for 4 times. And on the other hand the bill was increasing and expanded to 1 lakhs 14 thousand rupees within 4 days. Moreover they could not ensure us about the patient’s health, according to them it will be only possible to know about his exact health condition after keeping him for 15 days. But peculiar thing was that except bed charge and the doctor’s fish nothing was assumable to me for which the amount of the bill was increasing.

I took it for granted that my father would not last anymore. And the bill was becoming so unbearable that I preferred to take him out from that place, otherwise due to the amount at last we may not take his dead body also. By giving my signature I took him out from there. We had been informed that after the opening of ventilation, the patient might expire as his both kidneys had been damaged. On that condition also we had to satisfy the authority by giving the full payment.

Taking him at home after 1 day, I took my father to the GB hospital again. Doctor Minakshi Debbarma started to nurse him very carefully; and after 2 dialysis and 10 days treatment my father has been fully recovered. I can firmly say it now, if I had not taken my father from ILS, he might have died already.

My humble request is to the readers not to send their family members ever there to die and to destroy money. This business is just to looting the innocent people’s moneys by showing its fake infrastructures, whether in reality there is nothing.

I never bothered for the rumors on “Medical Scams”, but I apologize that it was my mistake to take it as a rumor after experiencing the bare truth of the health services of this state. Those who have the same experiences as myself in ILS hospital I request them to share their experiences so that people would not become those businessmen’s victim again.
