AGARRTALA, April 19 (TIWN): Tripura Pradesh Mohila Congress on Sunday demanded for a capital punishment to the accused husband CPI-M leader Jiten das and other involved with Kalpana Das murder incident. A delegation of Mohila Congress on Sunday also visited the victim Kalpana’s father’s house and had a stock of the situation

Holding a press conference at Agartala Congress Bhawan on Sunday Pradesh Mohila Congress President Kalyani Ray condemning the incident occurredon Thursday demanded for capital punishment of all the accused persons and the culprits involved to the murder incident of Kalpana Das, wife of arrested CPI-M leader Jiten Das.

Ray also demanded the police to frame the charge sheet soon. She said, “We want accused Jiten Das and other accused persons in custodian trial and the case should be forwarded to the Fast Track Court.”  

Besides, she also said, “Though of course the party had expelled Jiten Das after he was arrested on charge of killing his wife Kalpana Das, but the party might have done it only to curtain their so called clean image.” She demanded, “Jiten Das should not only be expelled from the party but also from the entire society.”

Adding to that Ray said, “Though Jiten was expelled but there is a chance that the party members might also help him to get him out of the burden of the murder incident.”

She said, “Before two days of the murder incident Jiten Das on a public meeting spoke about the empowerment to women of the state and stressed to ensure security to the women every society, but after 2 days Jiten himself was accused on charge of killing his wife Kalpana Das and later police arrested him.” Adding to that Ray said, “This is what the real entity of a section of ruling leaders sustaining here at the state.”

Kalyani Ray also pointed out the statement of Jiten Das said that during the last assembly session when MLA Ashish Kumar Saha and MLA Ratan Lal Nath had seek for the suicide rate, several such cases was brought where maximum murder cases were shown as a suicide, alleged Ray.

“There were several murder cases like Kalpana Das which has been shown as a suicide,” alleged Ray.

It is worthy to be mentioned here that during the police interrogation accused Jitern Das stated that Kalpana had committed suicide as she was suffering from illness.

Later visiting the deceased Kalpana Das’s father’s house Ray said, “Their family members informed that often Jiten das used to torture Kalpana mentally as well as physically.”

However, recently the 4 accused persons including Jiten Das and his two brothers and nephew are under 6 days police remand. The decision of the court had come after all the 4 accused were produced before the court on Saturday.
