AGARTALA, April 19 (TIWN): Senior CPI-M leader Jiten Das’s arrest on charge of brutal murder of his wife Kalpana Das has now become an issue of embarrassment for the ruling party with the opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman on Saturday evening talking to TIWN said, “The incident exposed the unique face of a section of ruling leaders behind the mask.” Barman condemning the incident that occurred on Thursday, said, “People of the state finds no safety for women now-a-days.” Saying that the incident of crimes against increasing at an alarming rate, Barman claimed, “A section of ruling leaders here at the state often uses the loudspeakers to declare decline of crime rate under Left regime.” But the recent incident and others that took place earlier had proved the real entity of the ruling party, said Barman. “The horrifying incident that has brought out the real entity of the party is now clear to the public,” Barman said. Adding to that he also said, “Couple of days back before the incident occurred Jiten Das himself on a meeting has beamed about the security for women in the state and appealed to ensure security for the women.” But most surprisingly the same “blue eyed” man has been accused for killing his own wife.

Barman said, “If  CPI-M allows Police to conduct a proper investigation to the case than probably many more suspects would also be arrested very soon.”

Talking about the role of police in the Kalpana Das murder case Barman said, “At the very first Police was absolutely late to reach the incident spot, and later police also tried to diminish some of the major evidences of the incident to weaken the trial against Jiten Das.”

However it is worthy to be mentioned here that on Thursday after the incident took place several locals has also raised a question over the as usual negligence role of police alleging that similar to the Ganadoot triple murder case police also failed to protect and barricade the incident spot of Kalpana Das murder resulting the public to make an entrance to the spot and step on the evidences that police could have collected.

Locals also alleged that police might have tried to diminish evidences intentionally to act on behest of the CPI-M leader Jiten das.

Another most surprising issue that has made the story more interesting is that on the very day of the murder incident when police registered a suicide and a murder case, on the other CPI-M leader Goutam Das stated, “It appears to be a murder.” Now what makes it interesting is, after the statement has come out in the media, police twisting their investigation stressed on interrogation to Jiten Das and his brothers immediately bringing them to the police station on Thursday night at around 11:00 PM.

And later on the next day i.e. on Friday police managed to arrest all the 4 accused including Jiten Das.

Kalpana Das, 60, was found dead with multiple injury marks in her room on Thursday morning. Her throat was slit using a sharp weapon.

Former Sabhadipati (Chairman) of west district Zilla Parishad and CPI-M candidate for Barjala constituency in the last Assembly poll, Jiten Das, 65, is a prominent face of the ruling party. Das has also been member of the CPI-M’s Agartala divisional committee.

Jiten and his two younger brothers and a nephew were arrested under IPC 302 and other relevant sections and were produced before the court on Saturdaynoon.
