AGARTALA, April 17 (TIWN): At last after multi phase interrogations by police on Friday evening 7.20pm arrested CPI-M leader Jiten Das on charge of killing his wife Kalpana Das. Police also arrested Jiten’s brothers Atindra Das , Satindra Das and his nephew Sidhartha Das.Talking to TIWN on Friday evening Inspector General of Police (HGs & Police Control) Nepal das confirmed to TIWN, “All the four accused persons including CPI-M leader Jiten Das is arrested on Friday evening after a long hour interrogation by the police at Ranirbazar Police Station.” Adding to that IG Nepal das also said, “The accused will be produced before the court on Saturday.”It is worthy to be mentioned here that after the incident took place on Thursday early morning all the four accused persons Jiten Das, Atindra Das, Satindra Das and Sidhartha Das were brought to Ranirbazar Police Station at around 11:00 PM on Thursday.Police along with a team of CID and other high officials of police interrogated them on several phases at the police station. Besides, the women police also conducted an interrogation to some local women at Ranirbazar.

Police on Thursday registered a case of suicide and murder. It is to be mentioned here that arrested CPI-M Jiten Das earlier stated that his wife Kalpana Das committed suicide as she was suffering from nerve problem since many days. Whereas on the other after the incident took place several locals along with the family members of deceased Kalpana raised an allegation against the husband Jiten Das.

Besides, talking to the media persons on Friday morning CPI-M leader Goutam Das said, “The party had not yet decided in regard of the suspension of the accused Jiten Das from the party.”  Das said, “Step would be taken following the rules and regulations of the party.” However in Friday evening  after arrest, Jiten Das was expelled  from CPI-M.

The brutal murder incident took place on Thursday at Ranirbazar area had of course revealed several allegations against the accused husband Jiten Das, who is a CPI-M leader. It revealed that due to handsome bank balance of Kalpana and due to an extra illegal affair with Jiten’s brother Lt. Ratindra Das’ wife Shibani Sen CPI-M leader Jiten killed his wife Kalpana Das.

Besides, it was also revealed that Jiten often used to torture Kalpana due to her hefty bank balance. Kalpana was a retired woman and later she joined one private school as a teacher.

It would be wise enough to comment here that the incident occurred on Thursday morning has once again flashed back the Ganadoot triple murder case where suspected Ganadoot Editor cum Propertier Sushil Chowdhury was arrested.
