AGARTALA, April 16 (TIWN): With barely couple of days passed by of tall claims that the Tripura Police announced decline in crime rates in Tripura by 18%, CPI (M) leader and former Pashchim Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Jiten Das’ wife Kalpana Das was found murdered brutally at her living room at Ranirbazar, Bridhi Nagar area on Thursday. Locals alleged that Kalpana was murdered. However following the incident on Thursday, a team of police officials comprising of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Anurag Dhyankar, SDPO (Sadar) Rajendra Dutta, and Superintendent of Police (SP, West) Bijoy Nag along with others rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Police is investigating the case. Talking to TIWN on Thursday after the incident occurred SP Bijoy Nag said, “at this moment it is hard to say anything in regard of the development of the investigation. We are investigating the case.”The incident occurred on Thursday morning after CPIM leader Jiten Das’s wife Kalpana Das was allegedly found murdered at her own living room. Several injury marks has been found on her body. A blade was found near the deceased body. Besides, it was also suspected that before Kalpana Das was killed she had a scuffle with the killer.

The family members of the deceased suspected husband Jiten Das’ involvement in the murder incident on Thursday. According to the family members, Jiten Das often used to torture Kalpana for an unknown reason. Therefore Jiten must be the killer of his wife Kalpana, suspected family members.

Besides, a section of locals of Ranirbazar also raised an allegation against the husband and the CPI (M) leader Jiten Das, while another section of locals remained back tracked from making a comment on it, as Jiten Das is a local ruling leader.

However, the role of the police is also brought under scanner as most surprisingly and as usual the police have not left any protection to the clues like foot prints and others, as a result the clues at the murder spot has got a chance to get diminished. The same could also be witnessed at the Ganadoot murder case, where the clues were not seen protected by the police.

According to some locals suspected husband Jiten das was not present during the murder incident while talking to TIWN today in this regard SP Bijoy Nag said, “Jiten Das was present at his home when his wife Kalpana’s dead body was found lying at a floor.”

However, the incident has triggered a massive tension at the area under Ranirbazar Police station. While the case might have brought another hurdle for the police to investigate the case as the incident occurred with a ruling CPIM leader.
