Costal Construction Company Ltd and NPCC were assigned with the construction work.Maximum parts of the bordering areas comprising of Gandachera, Kanchanpur and Longtharai Valley remained unfenced. Talking to TIWN on Friday District official source from Gandachera said, “The construction company which were assigned with the construction work of the wire fencing were not receiving sufficient fund that comes from Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), due to which the work came to an halt at the area.”He added, “DM alongwith the BSF officials went to the unfenced bordering areas to inspect the current situation there.”

Adding to that he further mentioned, “The NPCC Company has recently submitted the revised estimates to the MHA to undertake the construction work of the wire fence at the left out area of Gandachera.” Earlier during the year 2014 the MHA had approved the proposed estimate for the wire fencing work here, but now there has been found lack of central fund with the company, official added.

He also said, “Though I had no further communication with the official, but might be the MHA had approved the revised estimates. Therefore once the fund is approved the work will kick off very soon.”

Besides, talking to TIWN, official from Kanchanpur informed, “There are huge standing cliffs across 200 meter at Kanchanpur bordering areas, due to which the fencing work could not be undertaken earlier, but later a new alignment has been done at the area talking an alternative way.” He said 90% work has been done, and rest of the work is in progress now.

However, but it is to be mentioned here that the construction work of the wire fencing at the unfenced areas of the state likely to be severely hit by this monsoon. Therefore the construction agencies have to virtually stop fencing works due to the hostile conditions.

It is also to be mentioned here that the banned militant outfits has set up camps in Chittagong Hill Tract and has been using the unfenced borders for their trans-border movements.  Still now in the bordering areas the militants are still trying to recruit people by fear, misguiding or by luring. The people are being used to collect money, goods and other necessary things for the militants.
