KHOWAI, April 11 (TIWN): Just ahead of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election here in the state which will be held on May 3, a total of 150 supporters of congress are likely to join Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).

According to party sources, around 150 members of Communist Party of India (Marxist) congress, recently parted ways from the party and are likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The decision by the members to leave the party showed the “ideological disarray” in the Congress and the growing acceptance of the BJP in the State. The BJP, he said, had sensed the antipathy within the CPI (M) immediately after the Lok Sabha polls as several of its active members had voted for the BJP candidates.

The CPI (M) had “lost its relevance” as most of its leaders had moved away from the party’s core ideological moorings, he said. This drift had created disgruntlement among its committed workers. “Such dis-satisfied members are looking to the BJP. The party will continue to raise issues concerning the poor and the minority people,” he said.

“We have already launched a strong movement against the CPIM and discard the politics of Congress. We have no doubt in snatching power from the CPIM in the next 2018 Assembly elections in this state. The state BJP unit to go for all out effort to remove the Manik Sarkar led CPI (M) government in Tripura in 2018”, he added.

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is gaining momentum day by day in Left dominated Tripura with hundreds of new corners joining the party every week. Since the Panchayat election BJP has been setting its footmarks in different parts of the state especially in the villages and towns. At present even a huge section of the grass root workers of CPI (M) and Congress has started to accept BJP as a platform for raising their voice of protest against the miss rule of CPI (M), he mentioned.

He criticized the Left Front for having their orthodox mentality and they haven’t served the common people. The uninterrupted 22 year stint in power seems to have taken a toll on the financial transparency of the Left Front administration in Tripura. Corruption in implementation of rural development schemes continues unabated, he alleged.
