Kailasahar, April 10 (TIWN): Chit fund issue puts the Ruling Party in the backdrop. The Districts and sub-divisions are also not escaped from the backdrop. Recently a crucial meeting was held at CPIM party’s Kailasahar Office regarding the involvement of party members involved in various Chit fund organizations headed by Minister Tapan Chakraborty.
Sources informed that the present Sabhadipati of Unakoti Zilla Parishad, Kalpana Debnath was a chit fund agent of the organization namely Support India. But after the year 1995 Mrs. Debnath had withdraw this business and involved in other works. But after the rising of the Chit fund issue, the party had showcause Kalpana Debnath. Therefore in the meeting, Mrs. Debnath had presented her view point. The final decision will be taken by the State Committee. But the sources informed that not only Kalpana Debnath there is other members who are engaged with these Chit Fund organizations.
However talking to TIWN correspondent, Kalpana Debnath told that she was earlier connected with Support India before the year 1995 due to her occupation. But after that she had left the organization. Unauthorized Chit Fund Companies and NBFC’s have mushroomed in North Eastern Region during recent years. They lure depositors by promising exceptionally hefty rates of interests ranging from 25 percent to 30 percent. After collecting money they quietly shut down their operations and vanish.
In the meantime, at least 92 unauthorized Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) and chit funds have fled Tripura after illegally collecting huge amounts of money from the people, The NBFCs are not recognized by the Reserve Bank of India, the Insurance Regulatory Development Authority or the Securities and Exchange Board of India, and cannot do any monetary business or take deposits from people.
