AGARTALA, April 9 (TIWN): Tripura Youth Congress on Thursday under the leadership of YC Vice-President Sushanta Chakroborty submitted a deputation with the Director General of Police K. Nagaraj, seeking an immediate arrest of the FIR named CMOs for misappropriation of money under the National Health mission (NHM) under Unakoti District.

According to Chakroborty the department had purposely figured the misappropriation money amount less, while the figure might have crossed more than 30 crore, alleged Chakroborty.

Talking to TIWN in this regard Chakroborty alleged that since after the FIR was lodged with the police against 17 CMOs of the NHM under Unakoti District, no arrest has been yet, rather the police and the department are on a spree to rescue the accused officials.

“Today we had demand for the arrest of the culprits within 7 days, and if our demands are not fulfilled for public interest than we will move for a massive movement in future,” said Chakroborty.

However, receiving the deputation of the Youth Congress DG assured them to move fast in progress with the investigation. Chakroborty said “DG has assured us with a healthy investigation of the scam. He said that the police had formed a 5 member team to undertake the investigation.”

YC Vice-Presiedent Chakroborty also said that since 6 months TPCC President Birajit Sinha has been running before the police to lodge FIR against the officials for misappropriating money under NHM, but the police have not received the case. Later Sinha filed a Writ Petition with the High Court, following which the HC had directed to investigate the scam.

It is to be mentioned here that since after the FIR was lodged against the CMOs, the department has not yet taken any disciplinary action against the officials.

It is also worthy to mention here that talking to TIWN on Wednesday night regarding investigation of the police, Additional SP Nabadwip Jamatia said, “so far no arrest has been made, but we have sent a requisition to the CMO office seeking couple of documents.” He said, “Following the documents Police will be able to come to a final decision with the development of the case by next week.”

Besides, holding a press conference on Wednesday Congress Chief Birajit Sinha demanded for stern action against the FIR named Chief Medical officers and MOICs. Sinha alleged, “The figure of the looted amount has been shown less to curtain the entire Rs 30 crores scam under NHM in Unakoti District.”
