AGARTALA, April 7 (TIWN): In yet another setback, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Tuesday got urgent citation from CPI (M) politburo on chit fund scam issue. CM cancelled Tuesday's cabinet meeting. However, with this Sarkar likely to face another setback this time at his own home after a series of allegations has come up against him on Rose valley scam issue recently. The “urgent citation” has come of course after the anti-Manik lobby at Melarmath had taken up the issue with CPIM politburo. The entire state came to a standstill with people along with the opposition protesting it and has brought a series of allegation against the administration of state over the corruption issue. However, but this has turned to a gigantic shape, after the opposition here along with the national media reports outbursted the real entity of financial loot by the Non-banking financial Companies here especially the Rose valley company and its alleged brand ambassador Manik Sarkar.

But Chief Minister Manik Sarkar dismissed by saying, “When I went to the inauguration programme of the Rose valley at Amtali, I was not aware that the Rose Valley group is a chit fund organization.” His statement came after media reports quoted Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman and published photographs of Sarkar attending the inaugural function of a park set up by Kolkata-based Rose Valley group, a chit fund organisation.

Sarkar, also a member of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) politburo has now received another setback with the chit fund scam issue after recently he had received an urgent citation from his own politburo house, following which Sarkar on Tuesday had already left for Delhi. Besides, most interestingly the issue of rose valley and its alleged link to Manik Sarkar has trembled the CPI (M) party office with Bijan Dhar stating the national media, “If the Enforcement Directorate (ED) calls him Manik Sarkar will of course go.” And there the Revolutionary Socialist party (RSP) state president calling it, “Not suitable for Manik Sarkar to attend such inauguration programme inspite of knowing it a chit fund company.”

However it is also worthy to mention here that recently the anti-Manik lobby Minister Badal Chowdhury, though denied the allegation of giving land to the rose valley but stated, “State govt. was knowledge to rose valley-chit fund company, and later it has taken several steps against it.” But this has of course piled another heat to Manik Sarkar.

Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman recently alleged that the assembly had enacted the Tripura rotection of Interest of Depositors (In Financial Establishment) Act 2000, but a decade had passed without the ublic being aware of it. He also said the government did not have the political will to take action against the illegal activities of chitfunds. Barman accused the Tripura government of shielding Rose Valley company, whose chairman is now in judicial custody here in connection with an Enforcement Directorate probe.

The Congress leader, flanked by Somen Mitra at the press conference at Kolkata recently, also alleged that the Tripura government had downplayed facts while reporting about the activities of the chit fund companies there.

Though the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam gave rise to a huge uproar in West Bengal with several ruling party leaders coming under the Central Bureau of Investigation’s agency’s scanner, Tripura’s Left Front government is still at large, whereas the Rose Valley scam hitting the headlines Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar started facing the heat for his presence as the inaugurator and has also be termed as a “Tripura CM Manik Sarkar – brand ambassador of Rose Valley”: ABP Ananda.
