Congress declares candidate list : 90% new faces to battle the ADC poll

AGARTALA, April 5 (TIWN): Breaking all barriers of heavy thunder storm and the scorching heat of the sun, the opposition congress with colored caps on head declared the candidate lists today for the upcoming TripuraTribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections scheduled to be held on May 3, 2015.Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Birajit Sinha today declared the candidate lists for 27 seats of the ADC area in presence of all the elected candidates at Agartala Congress Bhawan today. Congress this year has brought 90% new faces in the candidate lists with three women candidates fielded to battle the ADC election.Announcing the candidate lists today TPCC Chief Birajit Sinha accusing the Left Front govt. said that since after the govt. has come to power here at the state, the indigenous people has been deprived at large, with lack of pure drinking water in the rural areas. Sinha alleged, “The rural and the ADC areas of the state are deprived from basic health services.” He appealed the voters to vote for opposition congress this year with an eye to bring a change in the ADC areas for the benefit of the deprived indigenous people. “We also demand for the empowerment to the ADC area and direct funding to TTAADC from the centre,” Sinha said adding a section of regional parties are demanding for the separate state because they are deprived from the facilities of the state govt. here.

“Though we do not support the demand raised for separate state, but we do demand for the empowerment to the ADC areas and we need a change there to rescue them from the trap of the Left front govt.,” Sinha added. He said, “During the coalition govt. the congress had provided employment to the indigenous people of the state.” Adding to that Sinha claimed, a series of misappropriation of money at every block has come up here under the regime of Left front govt.

However but it is mentionable here that the opposition parties of the state has failed to keep any challenge before the Tripura Left front govt. here till today with the ruling CPI (M) gaining a momentum from it and has been sweeping the elections here. Though it is a time now to witness how the congress with 90% news does faces this year battle the general election to Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) scheduled to be held on May 3.

A total of 7, 58,554 voters comprising of 3, 83,437 men and 3, 75,117 women candidates are going to cast their votes for the 28 seats of the TTAADC. The TTAADC came into being in 1985 under the sixth schedule of the Constitution to safeguard economic, political and cultural interests of the tribals of the state who form one third of the state's population.
