AGARTALA, April 4 (TIWN): Tripura Pradesh Women Congress workers under the leadership of TPWC in-charge Shehnaz Haque today protested the racist comment of Union Minister Giriraj Singn on Congress President Sonia Gandhi. The women workers today under the banner of the Congress here at Agartala burned the effigy of the Minister Giriraj Singh.
Protesting the shocking remark of Singh the women workers comprising of TPWC in-charge Shehnaz Haque under the banner of the opposition Congress demanded to sack off Giriraj Singh for his racist comment on Sonia Gandhi.
It is mentionable here that The controversial Union Minister had made a racist comment on Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday, asking if the Congress party would have accepted her if she had not been white-skinned. "If Rajiv Gandhi had married a Nigerian or if she (Sonia) wasn't white skinned, would Congress accept her as a leader?" said the BJP MP from Bihar during a meeting in Hajipur.
However, the Pradesh Women Congress workers today along with Haque also held a meeting at Khayepur in wake of the ADC election. Haque addressing the meeting called for united fight against the ruling CPI (M) here in the ADEC poll. Haque also stressed for the empowerment to the women of the state.
Haque is scheduled to leave the state today evening for Guwahati. It is worthy to mention here that during her three days visit to the state Haque held a series of meeting at several places of the ADC areas with the women workers and urged to strengthen the base of the organization and fight united against the ruling CPI (M). Haque also called for employment generation schemes here at the state.
