AGARTALA, April 3 (TIWN): Chaitra Sale begins at the State. Profit margins of sellers will most probably go up at the impermanent market in Sakuntala Road and other leading markets. The number of customers has increased as compared to the last year, according to traders. Small shopkeepers and whole sellers offered discounts on every purchase in this season. In the marriage seasons, traders of Hawkers Corner have seen good sales. Most people target the Chaitra Sale as they can buy in bulk for weddings at a discounted rate.
In Chaitra Sale at HGB Road, the traffic jam has turned worse with autos taking around 5 to 10 minutes to cross the Kaman Chowmuhani-Post Office Chowmuhani stretch that usually is a minute ride. City Police have been cracking on all forms of illegal parking on the road. Additional Policemen were also deployed at the spot to maintain the crowd.
Chaitra sale is the most availed and awaited discount sale in markets and malls. Traditionally, as Bengali New Year starts in Baisakh (this falls in mid-April) Chaitra is the last month of Bengali calendar. Bengalis celebrates New Year or Poila Baisakh by combining traditional and modern practices and new clothes is one of the top priorities.
Interestingly unlike malls from Kolkata manufactured clothes are not too keen to attract customers by offering discounts. Markets and stores waits for this time by offering attractive discounts to attract customers in Chaitra sale.
