INPT organizes meeting with 26 candidates ahead of TTAADC election

AGARTALA, April 2 (TIWN): The Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) organized a meeting today with the 26 candidates ahead of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election here in the state which will be held on May 3 at Agartala Press Club.

In the meeting General Secretary Jagadish Debbarma asked the candidates to start door to door campaign as soon as possible. And other issues related to the TTAADC election was discussed in the meeting.

Jagadish Debbarma urged the central government to increase the power of TTAADC and the development of TTAADC areas would be the development of the state. It is a fight for their principles.
President of INPT Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl and other leaders were present in the meeting.     

However, it is mentionable here that election to the 28-member Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) for tribals is drawing near the opposition parties have launched programmes to mobilise support of the indigenous communities. While the regional Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) has been campaigning for a separate state, the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT), the other regional party, has been holding rallies across the hilly areas of the state.

The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) was formed under Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution in 1987 to protect ad safeguard interest of people from the recognized tribal communities. The district council currently houses 19 indigenous communities. It covers 67 percent of the territorial area of the state.
