AGARTALA, March 29 (TIWN): The court of chief judicial magistrate has sent Bidyut Das to eight days police remand main accused in the murder of Bitihka Barman, former zilla parishad member of ruling CPI(M).
Chief judicial magistrate Hrisihkesh Chakrabroty after verifying the case diary submitted by the investigation officer in court on Monday sent Bidyut to police remand. However police urged for ten days. Earlier today he was discharged from hospital and was produced in court today.
It is mentionable here that on March 19, Bitihka Barman was murdered while going from Shalbagan to GB hospital by a scotty, Bidyut Das was her pillow rider also sustained some injuries. Later he told they were attacked by 4- 5 people, whom he named three of the alleged assailants. Accordingly police arrested three assailants, after investigation it was found whole episode was cooked by Bidyut himself. The IO of the case Prajit Malakar told TIWN that the preliminary investigation and evidences hints Bithika was murdered by Bidyut . The accused claims her as wife, whereas the victim relatives said Bithika was not married.
