AGARTALA,March 29 (TIWN):Though the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam gave rise to a huge uproar in West Bengal with several ruling party leaders coming under the Central Bureau of Investigation’s agency’s scanner, Tripura’s Left Front government is still at large, whereas the Rose Valley scam hitting the headlines.Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar started facing the heat for his presence as the inaugurator, in the inauguration programme of a park named after Rose Valley. Even Science and Technology Minister Bijita Nath was also accused of being an agent of the chit fund company as once upon a time, she had promoted the company during its’ sunny day. As a rebuttal, she clearly denied of her any tie with. The opposition and the BJP demanded Manik Sarkar to be interrogated by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as he is the head of the CPI (M) party in the state. Surprisingly, when the opposition Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party staged protests across Tripura seeking CBI enquiry into the chit fund scams, the Manik Sarkar government seems to be reluctant to take any stern action against the fraudsters who had pocketed crores by fooling people.

“We earlier, sent a letter to Mr. Sarkar to reveal the truth and the money siphoned off by the chit fund companies to be returned to the defrauded depositors by selling properties of those who had squeezed crores in the chit fund scam. But the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues preferred to keep mum on the issue. He should be interrogated in this issue,” Leader of Opposition Sudip Roy Barman.

Mocking the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tripura to inaugurate the second unit of 726 mega watt gas based thermal power project at Palatana in Gomati District, the opposition termed it as ‘desperate bid’ by Manik Sarkar to scuttle CBI probe in chit fund scam in Tripura after many leaders of Trinamool Congress and ministers in West Bengal were arrested or interrogated in this case.

“Why Manik Sarkar is not brought under CBI probe? As he smelled trouble after seeing the ill fates of the bigwigs of Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, he invited Narendra Modi to inaugurate the Palatana power project’s second unit to keep his white kurta clean,” Leader of Opposition Sudip Roy Barman said.
