AGARTALA, March 28 (TIWN): North East NSS festival, organized by the state NSS Cell in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India kick starts today at Agartala with a colorful rally walked across the capital city. The rally started from the premises of Birchandra State Library. Minister of state Youth Affairs and Sports Sahid Chodhuri inaugurated the rally. The main programme was held at Agartala Rabindra Bhawan after Chief Minister Manik Sarkar inaugurating the programme. Besides, Secretary Samarjit Bhowmik delivered the welcome speech of the programme. 350 representatives from 8 North Eastern states have participated in the festival. A total of 8 North Eastern states with 60 representatives from Assam, 24 from Arunachal Pradesh, 30 from Manipur, 24 from Sikkim, 24 from Meghalaya, 24 from Mizoram, 24 from Nagaland and 100 representatives from Tripura participated in the festival that commenced from today. Besides, 10 representatives of NSS Officials from NE Region, 20 local volunteers, 10 local officials also participated.
However it is to be mentioned here that the central govt. has sanctioned Rs.30, 37,000 for organizing the NSS festival at Agartala. And out of the total sanctioned the NSS Regional Office has released 90% amount of Rs.27, 33,300 and the rest amount will be released after the submission of the Utilization Certificate of the programme.
