Speaking on the ensuring Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election, the veteran left leader has said that at all India level itself that the left parties it advocates for the amendment of 6th schedule (which denoted awarding more administrative and financial autonomy to the Autonomous areas)
Incidentally, the same relevant issue of altering the constitution has also been propounded by the state Congress too. On being questioned about the standpoint of his party on according more autonomy to the ADC areas he has stated: “Apart from accepting the demand of a separate state we can all other demands for the empowerment of indigenous tribal areas.
The left parties with all its organizational obedience, regulation and having a bearing on their unified command unlike Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) enjoys an impenetrable fort in rural Tripura and this time too it is most likely to mark a clean sweep in the hills. “Our slogan is the development of the ADC areas for strengthening the same and we would urge the people of hill to sustain the victory of left so to maintain the tribal and non tribal harmony in state and thus further intensifying our struggle against the anti people policies of the government.” The leader has also stressed upon the significance of the integration among the people of the state. “We have already submitted it to the central government that as it (three tier Panchayet election) is in force we also want the same to be implemented in ADC areas where currently the election occurs at Village Panchayet level only”, he further added.
Meanwhile, Indigenous National Party of Twipra (INPT) is speaking in favour of direcdt funding to the ADC areas whereas the left parties tell that regarding the financial autonomy the utilization certificates, operationalisation of the fund and such other issues should be bestowed on the state government itself.
