AGARTALA, March 16 (TIWN): TECC will organize various functions on the occasion of observing the completion of 40 years of the strike called by the teacher’s employee in the year 1975. As a part of this, the joint secretary of the Committee, Anjan Roy Chowdhury stated measures in a press meet here on Monday.

Declaring the schedules, the organizers told that as 40 years is completed on March 19th; so on this very day, a session of important discussion will be held at Rabindra Satabarsiki Bhavan. This procedure will continue upto March 31st in all the districts and sub-divisions.To make these programme, successful, a 27 members team were constructed who will look after the different programmes of the day. Among the members, Dilip das is elected as the Chairman, Joint Secretary as Ashim Paul and Anjan Roy Chowdhury.

It is to be mentioned here that on March 19th, in  the year 1975, the teacher employees had organized strike for thirteen days which was continued for 13 days upto March 31st. The strike was organized mainly on the basis of seven primary demands including Rationing system, free of cost education upto the Madhyamik level etc.

Besides the strengthened measures of the thethen ruling Government, the strike was organized on smooth basis. To make the strike successful various measures were taken and loss of innumerable lives including the youth leader of Sabroom, Nripendra Debnath.
