AGARTALA, March 1 (TIWN): In the so called golden era of CM Manik Sarkar, land mafias of Sonamura with the help of newly appointed SDM of Sonamura Panna Ahmed allegedly grabbing the properties of the local people by misusing SDM's administrative power.According to sources, land mafias of Sonamura with the help of newly appointed SDM Panna Ahmed are on a race to evict the poor Hindu families of Sonamura Sub-Division. Residents of Sonamura said that several times they have went to the District Magistrate (DM) Parshant Kumar Goyal regarding the issue but no action has been taken against Panna Ahmed till date due to Panna's close relation with the CPI (M) led State Government. It was reported that, not only land grabbing, Panna Ahmed's family is also engaged in smuggling of contraband items.Moreover, Panna Ahmed's brother-in-law namely Roman Mia is also known as Phensedyl king of Sonamura.

Several cases of land grabbing are already registered against SDM Panna Ahmed. But no one is able to take stern action Panna Ahmed due to his close relation with CPL (M), said sources.

It is to be mentioned here that former SDM of Sonamura Subasish Das was transferred for doing his job honestly by destroying over Rs. 100 crores worth of ganja fields.

According to analysis, the left front government here in the state has undergone a serious financial crisis from the demolition of cannabis worth Rs. 100 crores. And this must a prime reason for the transfer of an honest TCS officer Subhashis Dasfr.

A section of  honest TCS officers said that, a lobby, which is active with the smugglers in Sonamura and other parts of Tripura, wanted Subasish out.
