AGARTALA, Feb 27 (TIWN):When Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and his team are busy with CPI(M) state committee conference here at Town Hall, there are reports of death of at least 6 children due to diarrhea at hilly areas of Gandacherra subdivision. Panic gripped among people and they are fleeing. The death occurred as medicine was not distributed among the villages in right time, alleged the villagers. Sources said that Rata Tripura (7) and Anta Tripura (12) died at Purba Raima Village of Raishyabari within last one week which is situated at 28 Km distance Gandacherra subdivision. On the other hand, three children of Joy Chandra Para including Sukla Raishya Tripura (16), Chalanmoy Reang (9) and Pragati Tripura (14) of Rajdhanpara died with diarrhea. Yet again the tall claims of Chief Minister of providing quality health care facilities fell flat. The centre is pumping crores of fund for development of health care system in tribal areas, but nothing is getting done. Every year people die due to water borne diseases, malaria etc only due to the negligence of the government and failure to learn from their previous years mistakes.

Besides the health workers like MPW, Asha workers and anganwadi centers at each and every village are not performing their duties as they  enjoy the patronage of the ruling party.

Meanwhile Health minister Badal Choudhury  directed  anganwadi and ASHA workers to organize awareness programme in the locality. But the order of the minister is being violated in the locality. According to a senior IAS officer on question of anonymity said the elected reprensative of CPI (M) are solely responsible and to be blame for breakdown of health care in the tribal areas. “They are indulged with all kind of financial irregularities, honest officers who really want deliver and work for the ignorant tribal population fails due to their repeated  unholy interference”  the officer said.
