AGARTALA, February 25 (TIWN): Calling the Narendra Modi Government as a 'joint enterprise of the RSS and BJP", All India CPI (M) General Secretary Prakash Karat today addressing the 21st Tripura CPI (M) state conference accused the Centre for launching a 'right wing offensive" on the country to serve the interests of corporate and Hindutva forces. Addressing the session of the 21st Tripura state conference of the CPI (M) here at Agartala Vivekananda ground, Karat also charged the Modi Government with bypassing Parliament by bringing in a spate of ordinances and "hiding" from the people the details of the defense framework agreement with the United States.

He also expressed concern over the attacks on minorities and growing intolerance towards freedom of expression in the realms of art and culture.Karat said the BJP govt. at the center has brought a scarring attack on the poor people of the state Tripura. Farmers in Tripura alongwith the poor people has been deprived at large under the 9 months regime of the Modi govt. at the center.

The govt. at the center has curtailed the fund under the centrally sponsored rural employment scheme. Karat said  that the MGNREGA scheme was launched under the UPA – II govt. and that too coming under the pressure of the CPI (M). “Modi govt. at the center has brought a scouring attack on the poor people of Tripura”, Karat said. Claiming that the BJP govt. at the center has adopted an anti-people policy Karat said the BJP at the center has brought a proposal to curtail fund under the Food Security Act.
"Within the short period of nine months of the Modi Government it is clear that our country is witnessing a right wing offensive. This right wing offensive is driven by two major forces. One, the corporate and big business groups and the other RSS-led Hindutva." While the corporates were pushing for aggressively pursuing the neo-liberal policies, RSS and the Hindutva forces were pushing their communal agenda, Karat said.
Holding that the Government's vital policies were being influenced by RSS, the CPI(M) leader said, "We have a government which is a joint enterprise of the BJP and the RSS" and this had become amply clear with the formation of a co-ordination panel between the two. "We have a situation where the RSS is not only running and guiding the BJP, but also providing directions and guidance to run the Government", he said.
In a speech that targeted entirely the saffron outfits largely sparing Congress and other parties, Karat said the ordinances, including that pertaining to the land acquisition, promulgated by the government exposed its "right wing character."
Ridiculing BJP's slogan, Karat said, "'Achhe Din' (good days) is for capitalists and not for poor people." The gap between the poor and the rich has widened due to neo-liberal policies of the NDA government. He denounced ordinances on foreign investment in insurance sector and amendment in Land Acquisition Act and said all MPs should oppose them in Parliament."Both the ordinances are anti-poor and pro-rich," he said and alleged that NDA government had raised the slab for foreign investment in insurance sector to help US investors and amended Land Acquisition Act to benefit industrialists. Now after amending the Act there are efforts to curtail MGNREGA provisions, he alleged and dubbed the NDA government as "anti-people".
However, later Karat called for a united protest against the BJP govt. at the center.
