KAMALPUR, FEB. 25, (TIWN): Indian National Congress or popularly Congress most probably having its toughest time in the history after the debacle in Lok Sabha poll and then recently in Delhi. Starting from 1885, when an English bureaucrat A. O. Hume set up the party it probably not witnessed such a chaos and crisis. Obviously the Surat split among the moderates and the extremists marked a jolt for the organization. But the present scenario became much more horrific. And in the case of Tripura the saga of defeat continued from 1993 till date.

Now, the present country wide plight is not a result that occurred suddenly. The analysis of Congress working policies right from the regime of Rajiv Gandhi started to weaken the organization of Congress. Being the son of the former and assassinated Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Rajiv became the Prime Minister and got absolute majority on the basis of nationwide sympathy for Indira. Importantly, Rajiv came from the family with no direct political and organizational contact or activity. So the importance of strong organization was not so important to him. Then the upsurge of Viswanath Pratap Singh and Boforce allegation made him to make up a king of legacy to the leftists. Then after his unexpected and sudden demise Narasimha Rao became the Prime Minister and for keeping the Central power horse trading and ignorance to a West Bengal and Tripura started. Then Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi controlled the party, who were also not from the organization and from the family. But the intimacy with the leftist continued. In different states different local parties emerged. To keep the power at Centre, Congress started to less its interest in the states. Thus Congress became poor and poor in Tripura and other states.

Now, the situation has become so worse that, the entire party in the State is becoming existent in the sign-boards. The role of AICC by stopping the collection of NSUI membership, keeping mum on factionalism and change of Presidents are only weakening the party.
