AGARTALA, February 24 (TIWN): Tribal based opposition Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) today demanded for the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the ADC areas ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election drawing near. Talking to TIWN, INPT General Secretary Jagadish Debbarma said that the state govt. here in Tripura keeps no intention to implement the ILP system in the tribal dominated land. Besides, asked about the strategies of the INPT for battling the ADC election, Debbrama said the INPT issues the separate recruitment rules for the ADC areas alongwith the empowerment to the indigenous people of the state.

The Left front government in Tripura recently rejected Indigenous People's Front of Tripura and INPT’s demand for introducing Inner line Permit (ILP) within the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomus District Council (TTAADC). Replying to a question in the Assembly moved by Congress MLA Ratan Lal Nath whether the state government would consider accepting the IPFT's demand for inner line regulation in tribal council areas, Tribal Welfare Minister Aghore Debbarma said that there was no question of implementing it.

However, reacting sharply, the INPT General Secretary Jagadish Debbarma talking to TIWN said that the state govt. here in Tripura has no aim to implement the ILP system in the tribal land. Adding to it Debbarma said that once the land of the ADC areas are made reserved through the ILP system it would bring much benefit for the tribal people of the state.

Debbarma pointed out that Left Front had raised the same demand for Inner Line Permit in 1990 when they were in opposition.

While Minister Aghore Debbarma recently in the assembly said that late Chief Minister Dasharath Deb had corresponded with the central government demanding inner line regulations in two letters in 1994 and 1996 but the Union Home Ministry had ruled this out.

However, later asked about the issue of alliance ahead of the TTAADC election drawing near, Debbarma said that the discussion with the other regional parties for alliance is under process ahead of the election. Besides, in regard of the strategies of the INPT for battling the ADC poll, Debbarma mentioned that the key issues will comprise of empowerment to the ADC and separate recruitment rules. Besides, the INPT also issues the direct funding to the ADC from the center.

Besides, the tribal based opposition Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) has denied the demand of separate tribal state within the state of Tripura in the name of “Twipra land”. Jagadish Debbarma today said ahead of election to Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), a section of tribals has been raising the demand of a separate state, which is nothing but an instigation to crack the communal fabric.“INPT neither raised such an irrational issue before nor supported the argument of creation of community, caste, language or religion based state in India. This will not only dilute the core issue of the backward tribals, but create fresh tension,” Mr Debbarma stated.

He, however, pointed out that unless development plans for tribals are not being implemented properly and socio-economic conditions of poor tribals are not upgraded, separate state can’t help the tribal communities.
