UDAIPUR, February 24(TIWN): It was on 16th July 2012 a promising student Sritama Pal was practically murdered by a commander jeep driver (till unidentified in police book) in Ramesh Chowmahani early in the morning. On that day Udaipur saw outburst of public anger against police in protest against. When the situation went beyond control, then Officer In charge of Radhakishorepur Police Station Chhabbir Ahmed ordered lathi charge on school students. After a lot of debate and discussions the then SP Gomati Thirungana Smbandhana S came to the spot along with the then SDM Udaipur Pankaj Chakraborty.

In presence of them a unanimous Deland was placed by the students, parents, local people of Udaipur to remove the TMSU/CITU controlled Motor Stand just opposite of Udaipur Ramesh H S School for the interests of the students' safety as side by side two schools are located - Ramesh and Path Bhawan. In front of all the then SP Gomati Thirungana Samabandhana S and SDM Pankaj Chakraborty declared that the Motor stand will be removed and administration would provide a separate place for motor stand nearby Ramesh Boarding.

But as part of official procedure both Thirungana Samabandhana S and Pankaj Chakraborty were transferred from Udaipur. Ever since Sankar Debnath assumed the charge of SP GOMATI, Gomati District Traffic Unit and District administration seems to have become careless about the safety and security of the students. As such the TMSU/CITU controlled Motor stand is still there and even in office hours vehicles are found standing on road in order to take passengers in their vehicles.

The students are having are nightmare. They find it difficult to cross the road with safety. Occasionally traffic police are deployed in Ramesh Chowmahani but for them it becomes a hard time to control the situation as the Motor stand is being run by CPI (M)'s most influential unit CITU/TMSU. What is more surprising is the attitude of District Education Officer. Though the demand is a long one District Education Officer, Gomati District is alleged to remain mute under political pressure.
