The incident occurred on Monday at Agartala Ramkrishna Mission School situated at Amtali, where two students of class- VIII have alleged of severe ragging and physical torture by senior students of classX at hostel of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya located at Viveknagar under Amtali police station. The two students were identified as Nabendu Debbarma, resident of Khowai Padmabil Ratanpur, while the another student was identified as Shahil Debbarma of Khowai Padmabil Paijabari.

Failing to tolerate more ragging and physical torture, the duo fled away to their houses from the hostel on Monday morning. After reaching at homes, the victim detailed about the prolonged ragging incidents to their parents. Thereafter, the parents of victim students admitted them to Khowai district hospital and they are undergoing treatment now. However, it was also alleged that the accused students of class X has been ragging the duo since 4 to 5 days back. On Monday after the duo finished their examination at school they went to their hostel room as usual, and later the accused senior students tortured them brutally, following which the duo left the hostel and fled to their home at Khowai. The guardians later getting a brief of the incident admitted their son to the hospital. They are undergoing treatment at the hospital under Knowai sub division.

Besides according to the guardian of the duo, if the school authority do not any action against the accused senior students, then they will move for strong protest against the authority.

It is also mentionable that earlier during the year 2013 a government notification said students caught ragging other students in any educational institutions in Tripura will be get a maximum of four years in prison and a fine. A Tripura government notification said that "under the Tripura Educational Institutions (Prevention of Ragging) Act, 1990, four years in jail and a fine would be imposed" on a student found guilty of ragging another student".

The notification was issued by the director of the department of higher education of Tripura to alert students, guardians and authorities of educational institutions after recent media reports of incidents of ragging in educational institutions in the state. "If a student in any educational institution has been convicted under the act, he or she shall cease to be a student of that institution and shall be deemed to have been expelled from the establishment with effect from the date of his or her conviction," said the notification.
