Agartala, February 22 (TIWN): Passing of the Consideration on the bill of “Salaries and allowances Pension and other benefits of MLA’s, Ministers , Speaker and Deputy Speaker , Leader of opposition, Government Chief whip and other members of the Legislative assembly was not done and was extended upto 3rd March. However, on the consideration of Chief Minister’s statement, it was decided to think of the increase in salary and other benefits were considered on March 3.

In the zero hour after the reference period notice and calling attention notice, discussion on the Salaries and allowances Pension and other benefits of MLA’s, Ministers , Speaker and Deputy Speaker , Leader of opposition, Government Chief whip and other members of the Legislative assembly started. While delivering speech on the above mentioned subject, opposition MLA BiswaBandhu Sen told that the MLA’s of Tripura are not getting proper salary, pension as compared to other States or Central Government scale. Clarifying the facts, Mr.Sen further told that the salaries owned by lowest grade Central Government employees is similar to the salary of State Government’s Joint Secretary. Besides BiswaBandhu, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Tapan Chakraborty and MLA Jitendra Sarkar also discussed in the issue.

However delivering speech, Chief Minister told that it is true that due to the rise in essential commodities, salaries and allowances should be increased. But what opposition leader claims that they belong to the grade of class-iv employees is not decent. MLA is people’s representatives. In many states, the allowance ratio is much lower than Tripura.

State Government after inspecting the situation, decides to 15 percent hike in salary and pension, excluding T.A and D.A. But due to concrete amendment, Chief Minister agreed to increase in the salary of Ex-MLA’s uptoRs 15000, Family Pension upto 10000, M.L.A Salary-Rs 35000,
