45-year-old man gets 7 years in jail for raping women

AGARTALA, February 12 (TIWN): The court of District and Sessions Judge Ashish Paul today sentenced a 45 year old man to 7-year imprisonment for raping women. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10, 000 on the convict, Maharam Ali.
According to sources, on 9/5/2012 the victim along her daughter went to their paddy field at Marwari under Kakraban Police Station in the morning while returning from the paddy field one Maharam Ali dragged the victim in to a nearby jungle and raped her. Not only this, Maharam Ali also assaulted the minor girl.
After the incident the victim registered a case against Maharam Ali at Kakraban Police Station. Police arrested accused Maharam Ali on 18/7/2012.
Later the accused Maharam Ali was produced before the Udaipur CJM court.
The statement of the victim was recorded in session court on 8/7/2012, the source mentioned.
