AGARTALA, Jan 2 (TIWN): A group of organized people came very aggressively to West Agartala police station on Friday evening, blocking the roads, removing government equipment like police barricades. This situation created severe tension among the public traveling on the road.

The agitators blocked the road and one of the agitators, covering his face with a cloth was seen hitting on the glass of the auto, and threatened the auto drivers.

The protest erupted after one rickshaw driver named Didar Hossain was attacked by a group of miscreants in Nibedita club area in Agartala.

According to the rickshaw driver, the miscreants attacked him after asking his name — when they realised that he is a Muslim.

An FIR was lodged at the West Agartala police station. However, as no one was arrested, these groups of people aggressively rushed to the police station demanding action.

Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman was seen inside the police station, seeking action against the people who attacked Didar Hossain. Sudip Barman said, "The way Bangladesh fundamentalists are attacking Hindus, in the same way, RSS backed miscreants are trying to do this here."
