AGARTALA, Sep 28 (TIWN): Congress MLA Sudip Barman on Sunday criticized Tripura government and administration over increasing instances related to child selling out of poverty.
“A recent incident shows a mother sold her child in exchange for Rs. 10,000. The administration took initiatives to recover the child and return the money to the person who purchased but the administration failed to take any steps to resolve the root problem, which was poverty, lack of work for the people,” said Barman.
“The government is just in organizing events and nobody has concerns about the real issues,” he said. “The government must be ashamed of its failure.”
“It should be ashamed of the child-selling incidents and also the administration should take necessary actions to reduce people’s economic problems and livelihood hardships,” Barman told the media.
