AGARTALA, Sep 26 (TIWN): A controversy erupted in Yuvrajnagar constituency's Charubasa area after a widow accused Ajit Debnath, husband of Yuborajnagar Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Aparna Sinha, of molestation. The incident allegedly occurred on Wednesday morning when the victim was sweeping her courtyard.

Ajit Debnath, however, denied the allegations in a press conference held at his residence in Krishnapur. He claimed that he was in Charubasa on business matters at 8 am on the day of the alleged incident and had gone to collect pending payments from Priyobrota Debnath, the victim's brother-in-law.

Ajit Debnath mentioned that he had no interaction with the victim and was only engaged in business transactions with Priyobrota Debnath. He alleged that Priyobrota Debnath and his brother Jayanta Debnath assaulted him when he demanded payment for goods sold to them.

Ajit Debnath claimed that the allegations were politically motivated, aimed at tarnishing his reputation due to his wife's association with the ruling party. The victim had filed a written complaint with Panisagar police station, while Ajit Debnath has lodged a case against Priyobrota Debnath and Jayanta Debnath.
