AGARTALA, Aug 30 (TIWN): SP West Namit Pathak, after the Congress’s rally, told the media that police did not give the rally permission, and it proceeded unpermitted. However, the SP also stated that there was no violence in the rally, even though tension triggered for a while.
The statement came after Congress’s rally was attempted to be allegedly interrupted by BJP activists, which generated a law and order situation.
Police limited the procession length that was earlier up to Circuit House, and then was reduced to the Radhanagar area.
Congress MLA Sudip Barman reacted to the incident sharply, stating that, police are behaving with bias and dealing opposition as “taken for granted.”
Reacting to the incident, the SP stated that there was although law and order issue but it was brought under control, ultimately, no violence erupted.
