ShANTIR BAZAR, Aug 29 (TIWN): The Shantir Bazar District Hospital is facing a severe crisis in providing ambulance services to its patients. In a recent incident, a patient was referred to GB Hospital but had to wait for a long time for an ambulance. Due to the unavailability of government ambulances, the patient's family was forced to hire a private vehicle to transport the patient.
According to the hospital's Medical Superintendent, JS Riang, the hospital has five ambulances, but one is currently out of order. The remaining four ambulances are deployed in two shifts, which sometimes leads to a shortage of ambulances during emergencies.
The hospital is also facing a shortage of doctors, which affects the quality of healthcare services provided to patients. It is alleged that the South District's Chief Health Officer, Dr. Jyotirmoy Das, is managing the district hospital and other sub-divisional hospitals arbitrarily. Whenever good doctors are transferred to Shantir Bazar District Hospital, they are sent on deputation to other hospitals within a week or two, leaving the hospital with inadequate medical staff.
As a result, patients and their families are facing immense difficulties, and the hospital's inability to provide timely ambulance services has put patients' lives at risk. The situation demands immediate attention from the health authorities to ensure that the hospital provides adequate medical care and emergency services to those in need.
