AGARTALA, Aug 29 (TIWN): Class-9 student Papia Sarkar died at IGM hospital, which sparked heavy tension and resentment among the family members and patient parties who were present at IGM hospital. Papia was taken to IGM hospital, but the family alleged, no proper treatment was provided to her, ultimately causing her death.
Her father was asked to take her for a CT scan, but the CT scan was delayed until the bill was paid. By that time, the bill was paid and the report was given, and she was declared dead.
The family alleged that, since she was brought to the hospital, no doctor properly checked and the nurses did not help.
“Nurses should help the patient parties. Patient parties at those times remain tense, and they might not be in position to carry the patient and do all the work that medical assistants should do,” the mother said.
“They (employees) are kept in the hospital to help patient parties. They should help the patients,” she said.
“I do not want anything for myself. All I want is for mobile phones to be banned during duty hours for the doctors. How can they do their duty if they continue to scroll on their phones?” she added.
The comments came from the lamenting mother amid opposition leader Jitendra Chowdhury's visit to the home to talk to the family members.
