AGARTALA, Aug 21 (TIWN): The Tripura Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union held a protest outside the CITU headquarters on Thursday, demanding better working conditions and facilities.
The protesters raised several issues, including the poor quality of mobile phones provided by the government for their work.
According to the union, the mobile phones provided to the workers became dysfunctional within 2-3 months, forcing them to purchase their own phones. However, these phones are also of poor quality, making it difficult for them to upload data to the Poshan Tracker app. The workers also complained that the Rs 2000 annual mobile recharge allowance is insufficient.
The union has put forth five demands, including the immediate withdrawal of the FRS (Field Resource System) order, provision of food to all beneficiaries at home or at centers, installation of Wi-Fi or high-quality digital systems at Anganwadi centers, provision of high-quality smartphones, and an increase in the budget allocation for the nutrition program. They are also demanding market-rate prices for goods and ensuring the safety and security of Anganwadi workers and helpers on the job. The union has vowed to continue their agitation until their demands are met.
