AGARTALA, Aug 19 (TIWN): The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee observed the 117th birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur with due respect and dignity.
A brief ceremony was organized at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan, where party leaders, including Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, paid floral tributes to the Maharaja's portrait.
Speaking to the media, Ashish Kumar Saha praised the Maharaja as one of the most notable rulers of Tripura, who worked tirelessly to promote education and culture. He highlighted the Maharaja's efforts in establishing schools, colleges, and cultural centers in the state. Saha also emphasized the Maharaja's commitment to maintaining peace and harmony among different communities, particularly between the indigenous people and the rest of the population.
However, Saha expressed concern that some recent initiatives are aimed at creating divisions between these communities, which the Congress party strongly opposes. He appealed to the people of the state to strengthen the bond between different communities and maintain peace and harmony.
