AGARTALA, Aug 18 (TIWN): 9-year-old girl Ashmi Majumder, D/O-Sanjib Majumder, died tragically due to late diagnosed treatment. She was infected by a poisonous bite (suspected as a snake bite) but was not diagnosed after being taken to Baikhora hospital, according to the family.
Resident of Baikhora, Charakbai, Madhyapara area, Sanjib Majumder rushed her daughter to Baikhora hospital after she was feeling uncomfortable. Family members alleged, the doctor Ranadip Bhowmik was not in the hospital, and after a while, he came.
According to family, the patient was then given allergy medicines, but when she complained about chest pain, acidity-reducing tablets were prescribed by the doctor.
The on-duty doctor initially mentioned about blood test, but it was not prescribed, according to the alleged family. Later, he released Ashmi to go home. Ashmi was accordingly taken home, but her condition was deteriorating after a while, and her body color started changing. She was again rushed to the hospital. But the same doctor was not in the hospital. It was said, he went to his quarters.
After a while, he came and referred the patient to Santir Bazar hospital.
From Santir Bazar hospital, she was referred to GB hospital, but that was too late. During treatment, Ashmi died at GB Hospital.
Family members demanded a proper investigation into this incident and punishment for the doctor.
