TELIAMURA, Aug 15 (TIWN): A month-long Drugs Awareness Football Tournament, organized by Mungiakami Yuva Samaj, concluded on Independence Day with a thrilling final match between Rangkhalpara XI and Mungiakami Tomtom XI at the Class XII School Ground.
The tournament aimed to keep the youth away from the menace of drugs and raise awareness about its ill effects.
The final match was inaugurated by Tripura's Minister for Tribal Welfare, Bikash Debbarma, who lit the lamp to mark the beginning of the match. Mungiakami Tomtom XI emerged as the champion, defeating Rangkhalpara XI 1-0. The Minister, in his address, praised the initiative and urged the community to come forward to support the youth in staying away from drugs and engaging in sports.
He emphasized the importance of a collective effort to build a drug-free society and encouraged the people of Tripura to join hands in this endeavor. The Minister also distributed prizes to the winning and runner-up teams.
