AGARTALA, Aug 14 (TIWN): Stressing upon the importance of school education, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that his government is thinking of developing the school education system on all sides, and that’s why consistently investing more in this sector.
“We have schools, but some schools lack maintenance, and for that we have considered over Rs. 80 crores in the budget of 2024-25. That year Rs. 153 crores were also sanctioned for overall infrastructure expansion. Over 40 schools have been newly built in 2024-25,” said CM.
“In the same way, we have reserved Rs. 264 crores in 2025-26 for new buildings and infrastructure development. Rs. 151 crores were reserved for major and minor repairs,” he said.
“We have started NCERT curriculum throughout the schools. People want English Medium schools for their children but we are also thinking about all students. A school has to ensure that the students who want to study in Bengali can continue; otherwise, it creates a problem for a section of students,” added CM.
“That’s why a policy has been drafted and accordingly actions will be taken considering all sides,” CM said at Bordowali HS school, where he visited to attend the 75th foundation day of the school.
