MELAGHAR, Aug 10 (TIWN): A traffic jam lasting over an hour was caused by a JCB machine that broke down on the Melaghar to Sonamura road, specifically at the Indira Nagar main road.
The machine, being used for road construction by an out-of-state contracting company, ran out of fuel and got stuck on the road, blocking traffic in both directions.
Despite the prolonged jam, the company failed to arrange for fuel, leaving vehicles, including ambulances and water tankers, stranded. Some vehicles even had patients on board. The situation was eventually brought under control by the Melaghar police, who arranged for fuel and cleared the road.
The incident has sparked criticism of the contracting company, with locals and passersby expressing frustration over their handling of the situation.
